I found the recipe on Pinterest and decided to give it a try. However, I made some changes to it and made it according the ingredients available in Delhi. The strawberries used are fresh strawberries bought from Pune, cleaned and frozen by me. You can also buy the strawberries available in the market in Delhi, however, they will be little smaller in size or you can buy packed frozen strawberries.

Ingredients:

Frozen Strawberries (Rock solid)- 4 cups

Fresh Lemon Juice: 1 Tbsp

Organic Honey: 4 Tbsp

Hung curd: 3/4 cup

I bought a big cup of Nestle Low-fat Probiotic yogurt and hung the curd in a muslin cloth for about half an hour to drain out all the water. This is the Indian version of Greek Yogurt!

Method:

While Pinterest instructed me to put all the ingredients in a food processor and blend till smooth, I found myself staring at an old-school mixer blender and one overused chopper. So, I added all the strawberries to the mixer but it refused to move and gave up in a blink of an eye.

But I was going to make this frozen yogurt no matter what. A lightbulb lit above my head and I opened the ‘Jugaad’ folder in my brain. I remember reading in the instructions manual that the chopper could crush ice cubes. So, in went my strawberries and magically, they were crushed into fine pieces. I quickly transferred them to the mixer (Tip: use a spatula or else your fingers will freeze in no time!), added the rest of the ingredients and switched on the blender. After 2-3 minutes, I had my frozen strawberry yogurt ready. I tasted the yogurt and it wasn’t as sweet as I would have wanted it to be. So I added 3 tsp of Stevia (Tip: you can add agave syrup/sugar/more honey) and gave it another quick mix.

Now pour the yogurt in an airtight freezer box and put it in the freezer or chiller. Scoop out the yogurt into a bowl (I used a small gibraltar glass) and garnish with a fresh strawberry.

Our lip smacking Frozen Strawberry Yogurt is ready. You can add more toppings like- crushed almonds & walnuts, blueberries, fig, and give your own signature touch.
